I basically love anything that makes my legs look longer and the flare and boot cut styles that are popular for fall definitely fit the bill. They balance out fuller hips too, which I’m all for. Some flare jeans are really exaggerated, but the ones that I’ve chosen are more similar to a boot cut jeans. Flare vs Boot Cut So what’s the difference anyway? Both styles are fairly fitted through the thigh (some more so than others). Boot cut jeans widen a little from the knee down to about 18 – 20 inches at the bottom. Flare jeans widen more, to about 21 – 27 inches and some are even wider. Flare jeans used to typically be low-rise, but now we’re seeing a lot of high rise flare jeans. High Quality I’m a believer in good quality jeans and I think you really notice the difference. Good quality jeans are softer, stretchier and more comfortable than lesser quality and they retain their ability to bounce back and maintain their shape wash after wash. Here are some other really good quality options, some of which are on sale. Budget Friendly I know we all have different budgets and it’s never worth breaking the bank for clothing. Here are some more budget friendly, but still nice quality flare jeans. Mother High Waist Flare These flare jeans from Mother have a rather wide leg and I love the really raw hem. If you’re not familiar with this brand, they make awesome jeans that are soft and stretchy. Even though they are white, I’d wear them all year long. I laughed because when I saw these on-line at Nordstrom, they come to the model’s ankles. Ha, I have to wear a 3 inch heel with them or they drag (I’m 5′ 4″), but that’s why they make my legs look so much longer. Fit TTS, I’m wearing a 6. On sale 40% off. How I Wear Them Since these have a bit of a wider leg, I like wearing them with a tee or shirt that tucks. Accenting the waist gives me shape. I think this jacket works because it hits just below my waist and would probably be better if it hit a little higher up. I wouldn’t wear them with a longer jacket or long top because then I’d loose the definition of my figure and it would just look sloppy. Good American High Waist Flare The Good American Flare jeans are not quite as long on me so I can get away with a 1 inch heel with these. They’re still long enough to lengthen my legs. Good American is another brand that makes a very good quality, really comfortable jean. In fact they are known for their super soft, super comfortable fabrics. Fit TTS, I’m wearing a 6. On sale 40% off. How I Wear Them Since these are tighter on the upper leg, I think you can wear them with more types of tops. I still love the look of tops like this sweater that come just to the waist because it gives the best figure definition. These however, work well with a longer jacket as well as a shorter one. I like combining the more tailored jacket below with the distressed jeans.
